Western Bluebirds at Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center

This afternoon, we visited the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center located a short drive south east of Ft. Davis, TX.  Near the visitor's center is an extensive display of native plants, all nicely labelled.  In the surrounding canyon land are several miles of very well done nature trails.

Near the end of our hike, having seen almost no sign of birds, we came out on a south-facing hill with with very strong winds blowing.  Here, we found several pairs of Western Bluebirds flitting from one tree to the next.  I had to sit on the ground and wrap my legs around the monopod to get a stable shot. In this image, I managed to get both the male (left) and female (right) in the same frame.
