Baby Water Snake

On our evening walk, we found this baby snake hanging out in the shallow water of of the San Gabriel River.  Our best guess at an identification is the Blotched Water Snake based on the information provided by the Austin Reptile Service.  The body was narrower than my pinky and about 1ft long.

Update - 2013.10.11 - This evening we found another snake with very different patterns.  Surprise to come up with the same identification but for an older snake. Since the two were found within 50 feet of each other, it might even be the same snake!
