Friday was a dismal weather day. Heavy rains were forecast throughout the Corpus Christi area. Rather than sitting in the trailer all day, we scouted the weather forecasts to see how far we would have to go to get away from the rains.
We ended up in Bay City, TX at the Matagorda County Birding and Nature Center. It was a pretty little garden and it allowed pets to be walked on leash. However, we saw almost no birds ... of any kind. After walking the entire park, we saw a total of 2 Cardinals, 2 hummingbirds, and several Mockingbirds. At least we were dry.
I did find this nice Orb-weaver spider next to the boardwalk leading to the decrepit and wasp filled bird blind.
I also found this all blue dragonfly which I think may be an Eastern Pondhawk.
