While viewing shore birds on Wednesday along the boardwalk at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center, I caught this sequence of a Snowy Egret grabbing a dragonfly out of the air.
We saw many water birds at this location including:
- Snowy Egret
- Common Gallinule, adult and juvenile
- White Ibis
- American Avocet
- American White Pelican
- Brown Pelican
- Black-necked Stilt
- Green Heron
- Tricolored Heron
- Great Egret
- Great Blue Heron
- Neotropic Cormorant, juvenile
- American Coot
- Pied-billed Grebe
- Least Sandpiper
- Black-bellied Whistling Duck
We thought we had seen a Sora, a bird I would like a "do over" on after my pictures at Balmorhea, but it turned out to be a juvenile Common Gallinule after looking at the pictures more closely.
